Better Than Roses!

Usually for holidays Clint and I try and come up with some sweet, clever way to surprise each other. It is so much fun and we love to try and out due one another. However, this year we are short on time, finances and babysitters and this week I got stuck in the snow (more on that later) and my van is still at someone else's house. So I thought we had decided to skip the usual festivities and gifts.

But I woke up this morning and Clint had made me breakfast and coffee, which is not totally unusual. Then he surprised me with a little something.

I had seen it a couple of weeks ago at Starbucks and mentioned that I thought it would be a great thing to own. It is a great thing to own. We put it in the dvd player and watched it as soon as I opened it. As soon as "Hey Porter" came on Aslan started dancing, very cute. We decided that George Jones looks like a ventriloquist when he sings :), but even still he was our favorite guest singer on the dvd. It was a great gift~better than roses!

The most beautiful boy!

I know all I seem to be posting lately are pictures of Aslan... but I can't help it. He is precious and truth be told, I am beginning to get a little weepy about the coming months. The past two years of my life have been... indescribable. As a woman there are so many roles you play~wife, friend, home-manager, financial planner, daughter, house-keeper, grocery shopper, meal planner, nutritionist, confidant, servant, steward etc... But there has only been one that has come as natural as breathing, and that is motherhood. From the moment I laid my eyes on this child, I have been captivated by him. Every moment has been a joy and while I love watching him grow, every year that passes takes me farther and farther from those first days with him and closer and closer to... I'm getting a little carried away and I'm crying. He is only two :) or at least he will be on March 9th. I'm so excited about his little birthday but I also know that the time goes by so fast. So I can't help but get all sappy and cry and look at baby pictures and think of the first time I held him. Children are most certainly a blessing and for me, one of the most precious grace gifts from a wonderful God.

These were taken by someone in our sunday school class. We went to our first sunday school fellowship today and had a great time. But sundays are hard on little ones and he missed his afternoon nap so he was a little grumpy. However, thankfully most people didn't seem to notice. These are great pictures. I could just eat him up!!! He is so cute I can't hardly stand it!

Look at these two~I love the way Clint is looking at him. Two peas in a pod.
